PAIC meeting with the CEC Member for EducationThe Kiambu County Public Accounts and Investments Committee has this afternoon held a meeting with the County Executive Committee Member for Education and officers managing the Kiambu County Education Bursary Fund on queries raised by the auditor general regarding the disbursement of bursary funds for the financial year ending 2018.
According to the Auditor General’s report, the bursary award process contravened several regulations as according to the Kiambu County Education Bursary Fund Act of 2014.
The report further states that, a myriad of irregularities were reported, among them incomplete submission of proper documentation, inaccurate bank reconciliation statements and inconsistent information.
During the cross-examination with the officers, members of the committee led by the Chairman, Stanley Wanjiku (M.C.A Ikinu) raised questions of competency and whether the committee was keen to ensure the proper process was followed in the disbursements. The CEC’s office has been tasked to present official documentation that was in question within the next seven days.
